Pliny the Elder Clone (Extract)


Russian River Brewing Company’s Pliny the Elder is one of the most coveted double IPAs on the market. Craft beer drinkers travel far and wide to get their hands on a bottle or a pour from the tap.

This Pliny the Elder clone recipe is based on a clone provided by Russian River founder and brewmaster, Vinnie Cilurzo.

The kit uses over 350g of hops, making for a bitter and fragrant double IPA experience.

Original Gravity: 1.074
Final Gravity: 1.015
Color (EBC): 20
Alcohol by Volume: 7.8%
IBU: 90-95 (actual, not calculated)

Contains all of the malt extract, steeping grains, dextrose and individually vacuum sealed hop additions for a fermentation volume of 23L (6 gallons). The expected final packaging volume is 19L (5 gallons).

Please note, kit does not include yeast. We recommend either:

2x M44
WLP001 with an appropriate sized starter
